Industrial Noise Assessments

Air conditioning systems require external condenser units; during the planning application process attention will need to be paid to the potential noise levels at the nearest noise sensitive receivers (NSR's).

Local Planning Authorities (LPA) will usually request a noise assessment in accordance with British Sandard 4142: 1997, whereby an assessment of background noise should be conducted before the propsoed installation and condenser noise predicted and compared to the existing background level.

Sound Planning consultants liaise with the LPA ascertaining their expectations with regards to noise limits, and appropriate noise mitigation measures if the predicted noise level exceed the stipulated limits.

Sound Planning has worked with the following condenser manufacturers:

  • Daikin
  • Fujitsu
  • Mitsubishi
  • Toshiba
  • LG
  • Hitachi

Our consultants lisise with the air conditioning contractor/installer discussing equipment noise level data, air flow requirements and suitable noise mitigation strategies e.g. acoustic enclosures.
